I want to take a minute to feature another friend of myChristianConnection. Here is a brief description of Sonnyvilla, from their blog:
We build hope for youth by encouraging emotional, spiritual, intellectual, and physical maturity through secure and consistent family-style environments.
Each home is committed to equipping youth with life essential principles for daily living, establishing healthy relationships, excelling in education, gaining social and economic empowerment, promoting spiritual growth, and engaging in hands on learning activities as a team/family unit. Everyday we gather for “family time” around the dinner table and discuss critical issues our youth are facing in the community.
We provide a nurturing, caring, and instructive atmosphere where at risk youth from urban neighborhoods participate in various enrichment activities such as life skills classes, tutoring, mentoring, and career paths. Whether it’s tutoring performing arts, technology, photography, building trades, or even youth camps; we step into the lives of our youth, keep them away from destructive behavior, and teach them to become active civic participants by embracing the community around them.
Our Houses of H.O.P.E (Homes Openly Providing Encouragement) are established to build hope for youth by providing a comfortable family-style setting. The key ingredient to maximizing our effectiveness is developing these homes within walking distance of middle schools and opening them up to youth during the “at risk” hours of 3-7 pm weekdays as well as on the weekend.
You can contact Josiah Martino, founder and CEO of Sonnyvilla, at (574) 876-3516 or e-mail him at josiah@sonnyvilla.com. You can check out their website at sonnyvilla.com or their blog at sonnyvilla.squarespace.com. You can also donate to their cause by joining their cause. You can do so Here. The impact that Sonnyvilla is having on the local community is nothing short of amazing, which comes as no surprise to those who know Josiah and see what a genuine person he is. I am proud to call Sonnyvilla a friend of myChristianConnection.

I want to take a moment to highlight a friend of myChristianConnection. The organization is called Street Kids Softball and is run by TJ Jorgensen. Street Kids Softball is one of the premier amateur athletic organizations in the nation, on the field they are one of the best men’s softball teams in the country, but off the field, their focus is changing lives through their charitable division, Street Kids Care.

SK Care has done plenty of volunteer and community oriented projects locally. SK Care focuses primarily on working with children with cancer, raising awareness for breast cancer research, helping to feed the homeless as well as many other causes. To read more about this amazing organization, visit www.StreetKidsSoftball.com or www.StreetKidsCare.com.

A friend of myChristianConnection is going to be airing a commercial for us on the OSBN Radio Show. OSBN stands for the Old School Baptist Network. Here is a little bit about Jeremy Sarber and his Radio Show:
The Old School Baptist Network presents “OSBN Radio” with host Elder Jeremy E. Sarber. Enjoy as we endeavor to present biblical truth as believed by the Primitive Baptists.
Jeremy is also an ordained Primitive Baptist Pastor and he is the owner of the Old School Baptist Network website. Jeremy will be airing his radio show on a regular basis and I encourage you to listen in to what he has to say. You can also find Jeremy on YouTube to see some of his videos.
I want to personally thank Jeremy for his generosity and willingness to air our first commercial for myChristianConnection live. You can listen in on 3/12/2009 at 5:00 PM ET. If you like, you can even be a caller on the show by dialing (646) 727-3856. If your memory is getting bad (like mine) can set up a reminder by clicking here and then selecting the button that says reminder, underneath the section that says ‘upcoming episodes’.

Tonight we went offline for less than five minutes as we implemented some site enhancements. There were several bugs that we squashed, along with some new features being added. We are also constantly trying to improve navigation and layout of the site. This is very important to us, since our third ‘core purposes’ for the direction of myChristianConnection was “We will focus on integration, design, and YOU!”.
Our goal is to consistantly make our site the best it can be in all areas. This includes design, function, and stability. The latest site maintenance hit on function and stability. As always we are eager to get your feedback so that we can evolve around you.

For about 15 minutes this afternoon myChristianConnection went off line to install some critical updates. If you were effected we would like to apologize. Once we discover some issues with our software we were on a little bit of a time crunch to get updated as soon as possible. The fix is now complete and there should be no further issues stemming from this issue.
In the future we do plan on taking the site offline at a more convenient time for everyone, typically, site updates are saved until late at night / early morning. I hope that the updates we have provided today make your experience better as well as prevent issues that could have arrived had the update not been done in a timely manor. Thank you for your understanding.
